Stages of development
The development in Rosental Mitte is proceeding in line with the 2020 town planning model, which covers the current and more concrete development plans. Why not take a fresh look?
THE NEXT STAGES IN DEVELOPMENT.
Demolition on construction site A
Demolition work on construction site A began in June 2022. Everyone can follow the progress of the construction work via the two cameras installed at the site. Decontamination work is currently taking place inside the RO 1038 building. This work will be completed in summer 2023. After that, the building will be scaffolded and a crane will be erected. This marks the start of the actual demolition work on the RO 1038 building. This work is to be carried out in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
This involves using a method that allows the building to be dismantled floor by floor from top to bottom. In that way, noise, vibrations and dust can be reduced to a minimum. The above-ground demolition is expected to last until October 2023. This will be followed by the demolition of the basement floors. Between March and May 2023, preparations will be made to remediate contamination underneath the RO 1040 building. This includes the construction of an enclosure with an air filtration system and stack.
From summer 2023, once the RO 1040 has been dismantled, the remediation of the contaminated site – protected by the enclosure – can be carried out underground. From that time, the Office of Air Hygiene will also carry out air measurements. The measurement data will be published and publicly accessible. A corresponding link will be posted on the rosentalmitte.ch website from summer 2023.
Haus 6
The planning work for Haus 6 is currently in the preliminary project phase. An interdisciplinary team of planners is working on this first major new building project on Rosental Mitte since it was acquired for the municipality of Basel. The project will enable synergies between the University of Basel’s top-class research and the companies already based there or moving onto the site.
