RESULTS REPORT FROM PUBLIC PARTICIPATION.

After the canton published its urban development model for the Rosental Mitte site in January 2020, interested parties have had the opportunity to offer their thoughts at various events or submit written feedback. The canton has now collected the results of this public participation in a results report, german, 20.11.2020, PDF, 253KB.

The planned opening and development of the Rosental Mitte district met with a great deal of positive feedback. The development concept, the use allocation, the structure of open spaces and the mobility goals were generally well received. The main criticisms related to the number of parking spaces, access to the site via Maulbeerstrasse and ecological aspects. When it comes to the next planning phase, sustainability and the urban environment will be key considerations.

In its results report, the canton responds to individual feedback and explains the role of sustainability in the urban development model. As the main aspects of the urban development model have been widely accepted, the model will not be reworked directly, but after completion of additional studies on the reduction of traffic on Maulbeerstrasse and ecological requirements. The results of the public participation will be incorporated directly into the next planning phase for the new district. More opportunities for public participation are envisaged in relation to the intended development plans and the planning of green spaces in particular.
